Sovereign Creditor Review covers sovereign debt restructurings, litigation and enforcement, sanctions and IMF programmes. Our reporting is neutral and sourced to primary documents wherever possible, and analysis is always labelled as analysis. Every item carries the date of the underlying event and a status label; a petition or motion is not a ruling.
Disclosure: The proprietor may hold or take positions in any of the restructurings and matters covered here, and the founders have advised, and may in future advise, sovereigns and creditors. Details are set out under “Conflicts of interest & disclosures” below.
Sourcing
- Every item links to its source. We prefer primary documents: court opinions and dockets, OFAC notices and FAQs, IMF and World Bank releases, government statements.
- Where we rely on a press report, we name the publication, summarise it in our own words, link to the original and note when it is behind a paywall.
- We do not publish facts, figures or quotes we cannot source.
Status labels
- Primary source — taken from an official document.
- Reported — based on a press report not yet confirmed by a primary document.
- Filed / petition / motion — a party’s request. Not a ruling.
- Ruling / judgment — a court decision; we state its scope (e.g. jurisdiction only).
- Staff-level / Board approval pending — IMF staff agreement not yet approved by the Executive Board.
- Target / expected — a reported timetable, not a deadline.
- Background — an earlier event kept for context; not a new development.
News vs. analysis
News summaries report what happened and are free to read. Analysis is clearly labelled, reflects the publication’s assessment rather than established fact.
Corrections
We correct errors promptly. Each corrected item carries a dated note describing what changed. To report an error, email corrections@sovereigncreditorreview.com with the title or link of the item and, where possible, the source that supports the correction.
