**Status:** Staff-level · Board approval pending (no Board date as of 18 October 2026) · **Date:** 1 September 2026 · **Country:** [Senegal](https://www.sovereigncreditorreview.com/senegal/) · **Topic:** [IMF programmes](https://www.sovereigncreditorreview.com/imf-programmes/)

On 1 September 2026 IMF staff and Senegal reached a staff-level agreement on a 36-month Extended Credit Facility of about US$2.2 billion (SDR 1,537.1 million), subject to IMF management and Executive Board approval, corrective actions on the misreporting case and financing assurances from Senegal’s partners.

**Update, 18 October 2026:** The IMF Executive Board has not yet considered the arrangement, and no Board date has been announced. At an Annual Meetings press briefing on 15 October, IMF African Department Director Zeine Zeidane said financing assurances on the debt treatment from Senegal’s official creditors are needed before the programme can go to the Board, and that the Fund would treat agreement by the Common Framework official creditor committee to Senegal’s proposal as such an assurance. IMF material for the October good-offices meeting also lists completion of the remaining corrective actions on the misreporting case as a step before Board consideration. The IMF said on 10 September that a first disbursement, a portion of the US$2.2 billion, would follow Board approval. Bloomberg reported on 14 October, citing people familiar with the matter, that Board approval before year-end would be difficult because an international audit of Senegal’s liabilities remains outstanding.
